Teams

Turn any sub-event into a team event — relays, corporate challenges, club competitions. Registrants create a team or join one with an invite code; you manage rosters, captains, and a free-agent pool from the Teams page.

Making a sub-event a team event

Open the sub-event in the Sub-events editor and check “This sub-event is for teams.” Two optional rules appear:

  • Members per team (max): caps how many people can join each team (e.g. 4 for a 4-person relay). It's a maximum, not a required size — teams can compete short-handed.
  • Team gender requirement: All male, All female, or Co-ed. Co-ed teams must include at least one male and one female member — when a team is one join away from full, its last spot is held for the missing gender.
For team sub-events, the Capacity field means the maximum number of TEAMS, not individuals. Once it's reached, no new teams can form — but people can still join existing teams with an invite code.

Pricing is still per person

There's no team pricing. If the sub-event costs $50, every member pays $50 when they register — exactly like an individual sub-event.

How registrants experience it

When someone picks a team sub-event during registration, a Team step appears. They must either:

  • Create a new team — they name it and become its captain. After checkout, their team page shows an invite code to send teammates.
  • Join an existing team — they type the invite code, see the team's name, photo, and roster, and confirm it's the right one before continuing.

Captains can copy the code, copy a join link that pre-fills the code, or DM it to friends in Run This chat — all from their team page. Only the captain (and you) can see the code, rename the team, or change its photo.

Managing teams

The Teams page in your dashboard mirrors the Circles page: every team with its roster, captain, invite code, and (when team fundraising is on) raised total. Search matches team names and registrant names. From there you can:

  • Create empty teams ahead of time (pre-seeding).
  • Rename a team or hand the captaincy to another member.
  • Move members between teams in the same sub-event — size and gender rules don't block you; you're the override.
  • Park someone in the free-agent pool: off their team with the registration intact, ready to be seated on another team later. Registrants can't choose this — it's a director tool.
  • Delete a team once it has no members.

The same moves are available per registration in the roster's Manage dialog (“Change team”). Teammates can never remove each other — they'll be pointed at you.

Teams in your reports

The Registrations roster has a Team column (exported in CSV like everything else) and a Team filter — on a team / free agent / a specific team.

Team fundraising

With a fundraiser enabled, the Fundraiser card lets you choose who can carry a personal donate link: circles, teams, and/or individual registrants. When teams can fundraise, each team page gets a “Support this team” button and its raised total shows on your Teams page — donations still land in your event fundraiser.
