Claiming an outside event
Run This's race catalog includes events that register somewhere else — races added by the community, and races mirrored automatically from outside registration platforms. If one of them is yours, claim it and the page becomes yours to manage.
What claiming is
An outside listing starts out unowned: it exists so athletes can find the race, bookmark it, and put it on their calendars, but no director controls it. Claiming proves you're the organizer and hands you the page. Your registration stays wherever it is now — claiming changes who manages the Run This listing, nothing about where people sign up.
Who should claim
The race director, or someone on the organizing team — the claim form asks for your role (race director, timing/results, marketing/promotion, or other organizer). You'll need a Run This account with a completed profile.
How to claim
Find your race's page
On every claimable outside listing there's a banner near the top: "Are you the organizer? Claim this race to manage its page on Run This." Click Claim.Tell us who you are
Sign in, pick your role, and optionally add anything that helps us verify you — your race website, or where your name and email are listed as the organizer.Submit
Your request goes to Run This for review. You'll get an email once it's decided, either way.
A few guardrails apply: one pending request per race, a small cap on how many requests you can have open at once, and a cooldown before re-requesting a race whose claim was declined.
What approval gets you
On approval you become the event's director. The listing stops auto-updating from the outside feed, so the edits you make stick. The first time you open the dashboard you'll accept a short claimed-listing acknowledgment (a lighter agreement than the full organizer one). Because registration lives elsewhere, you get the own-the-page toolset:
- Edit the page — branding, photos, description, details
- Engagement charts (views, bookmarks)
- Lifecycle banners (postpone / cancel)
- Advertising your event on Run This
- The Tips page
Registration, money, and race-day tools (coupons, check-in, registrations, finance, and the rest) appear in the sidebar but stay locked — they only make sense when Run This handles your registration. Switching your registration over unlocks all of them.
When your race gets next year's date
For claimed listings mirrored from an outside platform, Run This keeps watching the source. When your outside registration site shows a new date, a banner appears in your dashboard: "Your race has a new date — update your Run This page to match." One click rolls the page forward to the new edition with all your content preserved. If you ignore it, the date updates itself after about 30 days, the same way.
Race not listed at all?
