Dashboard tools — palette, to-dos, tips & more

The command palette

Press ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) anywhere in an event's dashboard — or click Search in the sidebar — to open a search box over everything in that event: its pages (Registrations, Volunteers, Finance insights, …), the individual cards on the Edit event page (jumping to one scrolls it into view and flashes a highlight), and quick actions like opening the QR code, copying the event link, viewing the public page, and — once your event date has passed — renewing. Arrow keys and Enter navigate; Esc closes.

The to-do list

To-do list in the sidebar is a private prep board for your event — a kanban with columns you name, drag-and-drop tasks, and a detail sheet per task with a description, due date, priority, and assignees from your director team. A table view and sorting (by priority, owner, or due date) are one click away.

You don't have to start from a blank board. Import opens a gallery of built-in checklist templates — full race-prep arcs for road, trail, triathlon, and charity events, plus single-column drop-ins like a sponsorship or marketing timeline. A preview lets you toggle sections and tasks before anything is created, and template due dates like "2 weeks out" resolve against your actual race day. You can also save your own board (or one column of it) as a personal template and re-apply it to any future event — done-states and event-specific dates are stripped so it applies cleanly.

The Tips page

Tips collects practical guidance in one place: a getting-started checklist that links straight to each setup step, a promote-your-event section (search visibility and sharing), a set of best-practice notes about how Run This actually behaves — things like refund policy timing, price tiers, and bib pools — and links into these help guides.

Starting next year's edition

When this year's race is over, don't rebuild it — Renew files the finished edition into history and rolls the same event (same URL, same page) forward to new dates, carrying over whatever you tick. The full walkthrough is at Renewing an event. There's no separate "duplicate event" button — renewing covers the annual case while keeping your history and links intact.

Importing past editions

If you're moving to Run This from another registration platform, your race's history can come with you: a participant roster exported from the old platform becomes one of your event's past editions — registrations, amounts paid, question answers, and that year's distances, browsable from the same year selector as editions run on Run This.

The registrant heatmap

Heatmap plots where this edition's registrants come from on a map — addresses captured at checkout, with coarse city-level placement for older records — around a marker at your venue. Toggle light or dark map styles, search to fly anywhere, go fullscreen, and switch editions to compare years. A badge shows how many registrants are mapped, and the page tells you plainly when some couldn't be placed. Handy for deciding where to advertise next year.

Your event's QR code

QR code at the top of the sidebar opens a dialog with a scannable code pointing at your public event page, your event's icon in the center. Copy link grabs the clean URL; Download PNG saves a high-resolution image for flyers, posters, and packet-pickup tables. Scans carry tracking tags so QR traffic shows up distinctly in analytics.
