For race directors
Messages from athletes
Every question sent through the Contact the director form on your event page lands in one inbox on your dashboard, on the website and in the Run This app. Reply by email, mark it done, and archive the junk.
Where messages come from
Your public event page has a Contact the director form: name, email, subject and message, no account required. Each submission reaches you three ways:
- An email to the lead director. Replying to that email goes straight back to the sender.
- A notification in your Run This inbox that reads “Name sent you a message.” Tapping it opens the message on the Messages page.
- The Messages page on your event dashboard, which keeps every message in one place so nothing gets lost in a spam folder. Co-directors see the same list.
The Messages page
Open your event dashboard and choose Messages under Communications (in the app: Director dashboard, then Messages). The count beside it is how many messages still need a reply.
- Needs reply lists new messages. A dot marks the ones nobody on your team has opened yet.
- Replied holds the ones you have marked done.
- All shows needs reply and replied together, newest first.
- Archived holds spam and anything that needs no answer. Archived messages stay out of the other tabs and out of the count.
Searching
Type in the search box above the tabs to find a message by the sender's name, their email address, the subject or anything they wrote. The numbers on the tabs change to show where the matches are, so a match that was already marked replied shows up as a count on the Replied tab.
Replying to a message
Open the message
Tap or click it to read the full text and the sender's email address. Opening it clears the unread dot for the whole team.Reply by email
Reply by email opens your mail app with the sender's address and subject filled in. Run This does not send the reply itself, so it comes from your own email address and the conversation continues in your inbox.Mark replied
Once you have answered, press Mark replied. After you use Reply by email, the message also asks Sent your reply? so you can mark it done in one tap when you come back. The message moves to the Replied tab and the count on the Messages row goes down. Changed your mind? Open it again and choose Mark as needs reply.
Send to me again
Lost the original email, or never got one because you are a co-director? Open the message and press Send to me again. Run This emails the message to the address on your own Run This account, exactly as the first email looked. Reply to it from your inbox and your answer goes straight to the sender, with their message quoted underneath like any other reply.
It only ever goes to you, the person who pressed it. If it does not arrive in a minute or two, check your spam folder. You can send the same message again after 10 minutes.
Changing several messages at once
On the website, tick the box beside each message (or the Select all box at the top). A bar appears with what you can do to all of them:
- Mark replied or Mark needs reply.
- Mark read or Mark unread. Unread brings the dot back for your whole team.
- Archive, or Move to inbox on the Archived tab to bring messages back to Needs reply.
The same buttons are inside each message when you only want to change one.
