Following & finding friends

Follow the people you run with to see their races and posts in your feed, keep up with where they'll be, and message them. Here's how to find people, what following unlocks, and how requests work for private accounts.

Finding people

Open Athletes from the sidebar and search by name or @username — every result has a Follow button right there. You can also follow from anyone's profile page, and from the follower lists on profiles you visit.

Following someone

On a public profile, tap Follow — it's instant, and they get a notification. Following unlocks:

  • Their activity in your feed — posts, races they register for, events they save, clubs they join, trophies they earn. See The Feed.
  • Their races on your calendar — events your friends are going to show up on your personal calendar, so you can plan to run together.
  • Messaging — you can only start a chat with people you follow. See Chats & messaging.
  • Their full profile — if their account is private, becoming an approved follower is what opens up their race history, upcoming events, and clubs.

Changed your mind right after tapping? Unfollowing within a minute quietly removes the notification you just sent — no awkward ping.

Favorites — extra alerts for your closest crew

Once you follow someone, the Following button opens a menu with Favorite. Favoriting someone can push you the moment they register or RSVP for an event, and (optionally) when they save one — each has its own toggle in the same menu. It's how you never miss a chance to jump into a race with your training partner.

Private accounts & follow requests

When an account is private, Follow becomes Request to follow. The button shows Requested while it's pending — tap it again to cancel. A pending request grants nothing until it's approved: you don't count as a follower, and none of their gated content opens up.

On the receiving side, requests arrive as notifications and collect on the Follow requests page, where you Accept (they become a follower and are notified) or Decline (the request silently disappears — they aren't told). If a private account later switches to public, all of its pending requests are accepted automatically.

Your followers & following lists

The People page in the sidebar is your relationship hub, with three searchable tabs:

  • Following — everyone you follow, with an Unfollow button.
  • Followers — everyone following you, with Remove follower. Removing someone drops their follow without blocking them — they aren't notified and can follow you again.
  • Favorites — your favorited athletes and their per-person alert toggles.

On any profile, tapping the follower or following count opens that person's list. On a private profile, the lists only open for approved followers — the counts themselves stay visible.

Unfollowing is quiet

Unfollow from the Following menu on their profile or from your People page. Nobody is notified when you unfollow.
